Dr. Antonella Calvia-Goetz serves as Principal Advisor for innovation at the European Investment Bank (EIB), where she leads strategic initiatives to strengthen Europe’s innovation ecosystems, with a particular emphasis on financing space and ocean technologies.
Dr. Calvia-Goetz has co-authored pivotal studies on space investment in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). She currently co-chair the task force on Space for Finance, a R&D pilot initiative funded by the Luxembourg Space Agency and supported by the EIB, which explores the integration of space-based solutions into the financial sector.
In the ocean technology domain, she launched the EU Blue Champions Programme under the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters,” supporting scale-ups in sustainable ocean innovation and contributing to a strategic study on Europe’s ocean tech landscape.
Her previous roles include serving as advisor to the EIB Executive Board, chairing a High-Level Expert Group for the European Commission’s DG-RTD on research infrastructures, and acting as an independent director on the board of a Benelux financial company. She remains actively engaged in European innovation policy and corporate governance.
Dr. Calvia-Goetz holds a Doctorate in Economics from Oxford University, a Master in Business Studies and Economics from the University of Venice, and a Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
