Space Data: Independent Emissions Verification for Investors
This session explores how independent, satellite-based Earth Observation data closes that gap: providing asset-level emissions measurement that complements reporting and analytics for due diligence, project screening, and impact verification, from development bank investments in energy and waste sectors, to sustainability-linked loans and green bond commitments. Methane abatement is one of the fastest, most cost-effective levers available for limiting near-term warming, yet capital deployment continues to lag behind what’s needed, in large part because unreliable and inconsistent emissions data undermines investor confidence and complicates the credible targets that sustainable finance instruments require. Panelists will discuss how independent, verifiable measurement is becoming the missing infrastructure needed to unlock this finance gap, supporting financial institutions, governments and regulators in managing climate transition risks.
